Christophe Jaffrelot, directeur du CERI de 2000 à 2008. Il est diplômé de Sciences Po (1985), de l'université Paris I - Sorbonne (maitrise d'histoire), de l'EHESS (DEA Histoire et civilisations) et de l'Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (DULCO de hindi). Il a obtenu un doctorat en science politique et l'habilitation à diriger des recherches à Sciences Po en 1991, année où il est devenu chargé de recherche au CNRS. Il obtient la médaille de bronze du CNRS en 1993 et devient  directeur de recherche en 2002. Il dirige quatre collections d’ouvrages, chez Fayard, Autrement, Hurst et Palgrave. Rédacteur en chef  de la revue Critique internationale  de 1998 à 2003, il en est depuis  le directeur. Il préside le pôle Asie de la DGCID (MAE), participe au comité d'orientation de Aspen France et siège au conseil scientifique du Südasien Institut de Heidelberg. Il est membre des comités éditoriaux des Presses de Sciences Po , des la revue International Political Sociology et de The Encyclopédia of Mass Violence. Il dirige le programme Recherches et pratiques internationales et siège au Conseil scientifique du Master of Public Affairs de Sciences Po
Il participe au Projet transversal du CERI "Economie politique internationale" et co-anime celui "Sortir de la violence".
